How BYNDAR Was Born
Hey, I’m Nancy — the founder of BYNDAR.
This brand started with frustration — and a refusal to settle. I’ve been active most of my life. But for nearly two decades, I’ve lived the reality of binding through movement — training, running, lifting, recovering. And through all of it, the gear was never made for motion.
Early on, binding meant discomfort, breathlessness, and restriction.
Products flattened my chest, but flattened everything else too — my energy, my confidence, my drive. Years later, when I returned to jogging after college, nothing had changed.
Traditional binders still rolled, dug in, and bounced when they shouldn’t.
Sports bras were technically functional, but felt disconnected from how I saw myself. And the products marketed as “performance binders”? Most were just rebranded pullover sports bras — white-labeled, mass-produced, and never designed with our community in mind, let alone each individual’s body.
Sure, they came in sizes — but there was no adjustability.
No way to fine-tune the fit. I didn’t want something I had to tolerate. I wanted something functional — something that could conform to my body, not force me to conform to it.
So I started designing.
I didn’t have a design background — just a deep understanding of what wasn’t working, and a clear vision of what should.
But translating that vision into reality wasn’t easy.
I worked with multiple manufacturers. The prototype sheets often missed the mark. No matter how clearly I described the purpose — in writing, on calls, in demos — the output didn’t match the intent. Even when teams said they understood, the result said otherwise.
Still, I kept pushing.
I refined the language. I refined my knowledge of fabrics and technology. I refined the design and fit. Trial by trial, I got closer.
Eventually, BYNDAR took shape — a performance binder built not just to flatten, but to move.
One that adapts, supports, and respects your identity without asking you to compromise.
That’s how this started.
Not with a business plan — but with a lived experience, a clear problem, and the relentless drive to create what no one else would.
